Night Food Trotting
I truly believe that there is no other better way to learn the culture of country than trying the local cuisine in the local scenery and, of course, on the only one best way to see the city – a Tuk Tuk. A convoy of Tuk Tuk lined up to welcome eager tourists from different parts of the world; excited to get on with the adventure and experience the uncommon.
Traveling in a Tuk Tuk allows you to be immersed in the sights, sounds and aromas of the city. Our first stop was in the middle of the cosmopolitan and the shopping district of Bangkok – Pratumwan. A flock of locals come to this particular shop for the best Khao Man Gai (Chicken rice) in town. Yes, you heard it, Thailand has their own version of it and it is aroy mak mak (delicious). After the sumptuous first course, we got to enjoy everyone’s favorite dessert – Khao Niew Ma Muang (Mango sticky rice).
It was a good idea that I allowed some more space as we were just starting the food trip! Second stop took us to the best-kept secret Guay Tiew Kua Gai (Fried noodles with chicken) and went behind the scene, and saw hot flames of how it was created. I never knew that this dish could taste so good until I tried it. Definitely added to one of my top 5 best Thai food I’ve ever had.
Next stop took us to an unexpected turn. A good break from the abundance of food we’ve been exposed to. However, I cannot reveal it here as this is supposedly a “secret” – undeniably something worth discovering.
Finally, you’d never go wrong ending the night with the “legendary” Pad Thai of Thailand. Unmistakably the best Pad Thai I ever had.
So before I shut eye, here are the must-eats I recommend for the next time you are out and about in Bangkok:
- Khao Man Gai (Chicken rice)
- Khao Niew Ma Muang (Mango sticky rice)
- Guay Tiew Kua Gai (Fried noodles with chicken)
If you like it, don’t forget to say Aroy mak mak!
